Job summary

Dutchess County BOCES is seeking a School Emergency Planning Technician – Provisional to support the safety and security administrator and emergency planning coordinator in applying federal, state, and local requirements within participating districts.

The role includes assisting with training, inspections, and data management, under supervision, with opportunities to lead workshops and ensure compliance with multi-hazard emergency planning.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local emergency planning requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret laws, rules, and regulations.
• Ability to conduct inspections, analyze findings, and determine corrective action.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing emergency plans and preparedness across districts.
• Maintain and update records, databases, and documentation on laws and reporting.
• Conduct workshops, drills, and training with the emergency planning coordinator.
• Perform building inspections and safety assessments to identify hazards and suggest actions.
• Create and maintain floor plans and facility information for emergency response.
• Coordinate information gathering from community partners for emergency resources.
• Organize training programs with response agencies for staff and students.
• Conduct threat assessments to identify vulnerabilities and improve safety measures.
