Wichita Public Schools seeks a Health Room Assistant to support students’ health care and manage the school health office under the supervision of the district nurse. You will work with staff and administration to ensure timely health services and compliant health records.

Core duties include basic first aid, medication assistance per policy, immunization record maintenance, and health screenings support. A professional appearance and punctuality are essential for daily operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred

Responsabilités

• Maintains the health room under the direction of the registered nurse
• Adheres to Board Policy and Health Department guidelines
• Practices universal precautions and all other health and safety policies
• Enforces all district, school, and classroom safety rules and regulations
• Provides basic first aid to students seeking health care
• Contacts parents according to health protocols and guidance of RN
• Assists with health screenings and assessments
• Maintains file or record screening results, new immunization data, and any pertinent information
• Communicates new findings to the school nurse
• Attends district and individual training as provided by Health Services Office
• Assists students with personal hygiene
• Sends letters or notes to parents with nurse's knowledge
• Communicates with the nurse regarding follow-up and referrals
• Assists with medication administration in compliance with policies
• Assists with coordinating schedules for health education programs
• Responds to emergencies and initiates CPR and 911 calls when appropriate
• Documents daily contacts as instructed by the nurse
• Assists with health record maintenance
• Compiles inventory and ordering information and assists in processing these tasks
