Job summary

Madison is seeking a Health Room Assistant to support the RN in the district's school health program. The role involves assisting with nursing services, first aid, illness care, medication administration, and health record management during school hours.

The position emphasizes confidentiality, teamwork with the RN, and facilitation of health screenings and clinics. Training will be provided, and candidates should be committed to student safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or obtained at hire.
• CPR/AED/First-aid training completed within 30 days of hire and kept current.
• Complete safe schools training modules within 60 days of hire.
• HIPAA/FERPA training to be provided by the nursing coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency care for students and staff.
• Receive, administer and document medication administration per policy.
• Follow health care plans as implemented by the RN.
• Assist with ADLs in special education rooms as delegated by the RN.
• Maintain medical records to state requirements and immunization status.
• Maintain health visit logs and assist with mandated vision/hearing screenings.
• Support vaccination and dental clinics organization and implementation.
• Communicate professionally with administrators, teachers and guardians to meet health needs.
• Utilize district email, Let’sTalk and Skyward for communications and records.
• Ensure accurate incident reports are submitted and attend Health Assistant Meetings.
