Job summary

TOPEKA PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a Health Aide to support school site operations by administering first aid and dispensing medications under a health care professional's supervision. You will coordinate with staff, document activities, and help with health screenings and services.

Qualifications

• Basic math and record-keeping skills required.
• Knowledge of CPR, first aid and AED procedures.
• Familiar with health and safety regulations and applicable laws.
• Computer literacy and office software experience.
• Clear English usage and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Administers emergency first aid and manages scheduled medications.
• Assists health professionals with health screenings (vision/hearing, growth) and health services.
• Supports staff with basic first aid for non-emergent health needs.
• Attends meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned.
• Cleans health room areas and maintains a safe environment.
• Maintains health records and inventories of medications and supplies.
• Communicates with parents, health care providers, and public agencies regarding treatment.
• Monitors referred students and reports suspected health concerns as required.
• Performs record-keeping and clerical tasks related to health services.
• Responds to emergencies and coordinates with on-site nurse for follow-up actions.
