Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a Health Aide who will provide first aid and routine medical care to students under supervision of the school nurse and health services manager. The role includes dispensing medications, maintaining records, and coordinating with parents for student care.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or GED, has CPR/First Aid certification, and is comfortable using MS Office and a health database.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and minimum three months related experience/training or equivalent.
• Knowledge of STI database, Microsoft Publisher, Outlook, Word and Excel.
• First aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs first aid, dispenses medications as authorized, supervises students in health office and refers to nurse or emergency personnel.
• Performs medical procedures for students with special needs (e.g., tube feedings, nebulizer treatments, inhalers).
• Contacts parents/guardians to arrange transportation or gather medication/medical information.
• Maintains immunization records, medication logs and confidential medical histories.
• Obtains doctor authorization forms to dispense medications.
• Follows HIPAA guidelines when handling medical information.
• Maintains inventory and orders first aid supplies as needed.
• Notifies school staff and CPS as required in cases of suspected abuse/neglect.
• Assists with locating financial or social services resources; provides clerical support.
