Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education seeks an Assistant Food Service Manager for the Missouri School for the Deaf. This 9-month, paid position assists with supervising, planning, and directing the preparation and service of meals, under the Food Service Manager.

The role supports menu planning, adherence to USDA regulations, staff training, inventory, and recordkeeping. Candidates should have an Associate’s degree or 3+ years of cooking experience, and must meet ASL

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three or more years of commercial, industrial, school or institutional cooking experience.
• Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

Responsibilities

• Directs food service staff in the preparation, cooking and service of meals.
• Plans menus according to basic dietetic rules and guidelines.
• Ensures compliance with USDA and federal nutritional regulations for school programs.
• Maintains health, sanitation and safety in kitchens, dining rooms and storage areas.
• Trains new employees in food service duties.
• Compiles data/reports/forms for DESE and maintains inventory.
