Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education invites applications for a Cook at Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD) in Cook. The role involves preparing school lunch menus, ordering supplies, and creating meals that meet nutrition guidelines while serving students with diverse needs.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED; two years of food preparation experience is preferred, and experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare school lunch menus according to rules and regulations developed by the Food Section of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and USDA.
• Order food supplies following MSSD purchasing procedures.
• Create and prepare appealing meals utilizing established nutritional guidelines.
• Prepare and serve food including special diets as ordered by physicians for particular students.
• Perform kitchen clean-up duties.
• Follow required health standards of local Department of Health.
• Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
• Demonstrate effective safety skills with students, equipment, environment, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and personally identifiable information.
• Maintain CPR certification at the level determined by the American Heart Association or Red Cross as Basic Life Support Health Care Providers.
• Participate in staff development as necessary to keep cooking skills and knowledge of food service updated and current.
• Follow food service skills development training plans for individual students.

Education

High School diploma or GED.
