Job summary

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is hiring an Assistant Food Service Manager for the Missouri School for the Deaf. This 9-month, paid, non-exempt position assists with supervising, planning and directing the preparation and service of foods in line with DESE and USDA standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 3+ years of commercial, industrial, school or institutional cooking experience.
• Transcripts must be submitted with the application if a college degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Direct food service staff in the preparation, cooking and service of meals.
• Plan menus according to basic dietetic rules and DESE guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with USDA and federal nutrition regulations for school programs.
• Ensure compliance with food safety requirements.
• Maintain inventory and records; requisition food and supplies in advance.
• Train new employees and supervise staff in the absence of the Food Service Manager.
• Prepare data/reports for DESE in a timely manner; manage time records per policy.
• Collaborate with MSD and DESE staff on food service needs for trips and programs.
