Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Food Service Assistant for Van Buren Elementary School in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role follows the school calendar, offering nine months of work with start times scheduled between 8:20am and 1:20pm.

The position pays $15.89 per hour with district benefits in accordance with the work agreement. Nights and weekends are off, and summers are off, allowing you to be home when your kids are home.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Kitchen related experience preferred
• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Perform general work connected with the operation of food service, including food preparation and handling.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods.
• Serve high-quality food and support meal service.
• Operate as POS for breakfast and lunch and verify a reimbursable meal.
• Process daily tally counts for reimbursement.
• Assist with general clean up duties.
• Maintain open, positive communication with all people served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
