The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Food Service Assistant for Van Buren Elementary School. The nine-month position runs 8:20am–1:20pm with an hourly rate of $15.89, and summers off. This role supports the Food & Nutrition Department with district benefits as per the work agreement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to encourage teamwork.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general food preparation and handling.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch, verify reimbursable meals.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods.
• Participate in cleaning and general cleanup duties.
• Maintain open, positive communication with all served by Food & Nutrition.
• Attend trainings and adhere to department procedures.
