Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Food Service Assistant for Harrison @ Madison Elementary. This 9-month position works 8:30am-1:30pm with a pay rate of $15.89 per hour, offering district benefits as per the work agreement.

Responsibilities include food preparation, cooking assistance, dishwashing, serving meals, and POS verification. High school diploma preferred; kitchen experience is a plus. Nights and weekends off, with summers off and school-scheduled holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Kitchen-related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of school food service basics and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Perform general food service operations including preparation and handling.
• Assist with cooking as needed.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays and silverware by approved methods.
• Serve high-quality food and operate POS for meals.
• Verify reimbursable meals and process daily tally counts.
• Participate in cleaning duties and maintain communication with the team.
• Attend trainings and follow building procedures for attendance.
• Be punctual and able to work flexible hours.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
• Support the Food & Nutrition Department with teamwork and customer service.
