Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District Grant Elementary School in Cedar Rapids, IA is hiring a Food Service Assistant to support daily meal service. This nine-month role offers summer breaks and a schedule aligned with students’ school days.

The position includes a $15.89 per hour wage and district benefits as outlined in the work agreement. Primary duties include food preparation, POS operation, meal verification, and daily tallying for reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with others to support a team atmosphere.
• Process strong communication skills and customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate the food service program as assigned, including food prep and handling.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware; serve quality food.
• Be available to work flexible hours.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch and verify meals.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Assist with general clean up duties.
• Maintain open communication with all people served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
• Attend trainings and arrive on time as scheduled.
• Other duties as assigned.
