Job summary

Vertex Education is seeking a School Finance Analyst to support financial health for partner schools, helping with monthly close, reporting, and board materials.

The role partners with Lead Client Managers and school leaders to analyze trends, ensure compliance, and prepare accurate financial documents. You will contribute to audits, grant management, and ongoing process improvement in a dynamic education services environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial analysis, accounting, or auditing in education (prefer charter schools).
• Understanding of educational finance regulations and funding sources across state/federal levels.
• Strong ability to analyze data, perform variance analysis, and identify trends.
• Proficiency with accounting software and financial management tools used in schools.
• Clear verbal and written communication of financial information to clients and teams.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for reporting and compliance.
• Ability to perform budget variance, cash flow, and financial ratio analyses.
• Experience preparing financial statements and budget reports for clients.

Responsibilities

• Support 4-5 clients or a small portfolio with monthly close activities.
• Lead pre-close work, initial review of financial statements, and suggested adjustments.
• Develop and edit board presentations; present routine financials to committees or boards.
• Complete reports and compliance documents with oversight.
• Serve as primary contact for audit documents and requests.
• Manage day-to-day client inquiries and support team activities.
• Contribute to local team initiatives, including hiring and training.
