Job summary

Fort Worth ISD is seeking a General Maintenance Helper to assist skilled technicians with repairs across concrete, masonry, flooring, drywall, roofing, and carpentry. You will support installations, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure work areas are safe and organized. This role requires shift work and physical capability to lift heavy materials.

The position emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety standards, and accurate completion of work orders in a school facilities environment.

Qualifications

• Requires Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certification of High School Equivalency.
• Must have Texas Driver's License and be insurable by district.
• Minimum 2 years related trade experience; commercial carpentry and roofing preferred.
• Employees must provide necessary personal tools.
• Familiarity with NFPA Fire and Life Safety Codes, ADA, EPA, OSHA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepares areas for concrete, builds forms, finishes surfaces, and repairs concrete.
• Installs and repairs brick, tile, VCT, carpet, and drywall.
• Inspects roofs for leaks and conducts repairs.
• Maintains inventory of district-owned tools and materials.
• Receives and completes work orders; ensures work area is clean after completion.
