Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the operation and maintenance of all building equipment and systems at assigned locations. You will supervise maintenance, grounds, and custodial staff, direct major repairs and renovations, and respond to emergency calls while upholding safety and energy standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; journeyman status in a trade such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or HVAC expected (six years).
• Knowledge of pneumatic and digital controls for HVAC systems; ability to read architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to respond to emergencies quickly, including after hours.
• Experience with energy conservation and building operations; proficient with computer software for HVAC controls and work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance, grounds, and custodial staff, including evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Direct major repairs, renovations, and alterations at district facilities.
• Schedule preventive and troubleshooting maintenance; maintain records and ensure safety standards are met.
• Respond to alarm calls and emergencies, including after-hours support and weather events.
• Coordinate use of materials, equipment, and budget with district procedures.
