Job summary

The Orchard School in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a General Maintenance position to provide construction, maintenance, and repair services for the school’s buildings and grounds. Duties include HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, snow removal, field and ground upkeep, event setup, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in providing maintenance services in a similarly sized and institutional building.
• Must possess a valid and current Indiana driver’s license.
• Must be able to read and understand curriculums, purchase orders, instructions, weekly calendars, policies, and schedules, written in English.

Responsibilities

• Provides maintenance and repair to the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems.
• Provides preventative maintenance such as changing light bulbs, air filters, and ceiling tiles.
• Provides snow removal and salting services, ensuring sidewalks and entrances are kept clear.
• Maintains playgrounds, equipment, and athletic fields and prepares fields for fall and spring sports.
• Maintains maintenance equipment and tools in safe operating order.
• Assists with event setup, takedown, and cleanup as needed.
• Distributes mulch and supports Outdoor Education activities and woods/path maintenance.
• Disposes of chemicals safely and safeguards equipment and fuel supplies.
• Cares for grounds for events and assists with catering-related setup and teardown.
