Job summary

Van Buren Area Online Application Consortium is seeking a Custodian within the Facilities Department to support the educational process by maintaining school buildings in good working order.

The role involves daily custodial tasks, basic repairs, operation of cleaning equipment, and coordination with building staff. The candidate should communicate well with staff and guests and be able to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff and guests.
• Ability to monitor and correct performance in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the team effort and communicates daily with building administrators and staff to maintain the physical plant in a safe, sanitary, functional condition.
• Perform daily custodial tasks (mopping, floor scrubbing, garbage disposal, sweeping, etc.).
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors).
• Maintain records (payroll, supply ordering, equipment operations, repairs).
• Uphold safety by following procedures and building rules.
• Interact positively with coworkers, administrators, the public, and customers.
