Job summary

Iberville Parish School Board is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment across school facilities. This full-time role reports to the Head Custodian and carries a 12-month term with Pay Grade 18.

Responsibilities include enforcing health and safety codes, securing buildings, floor care, cleaning restrooms and kitchens, moving furniture, and assisting in minor repairs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all health and safety codes are properly applied.
• Locks and unlocks doors, checks the security of school building and grounds, and activates the burglar alarm.
• Sweeps and wet and dry mops floors.
• Strips and waxes floors and operates buffing machine.
• Vacuums and cares for carpeting.
• Washes windows and walls and polishes furniture.
• Cleans restrooms, kitchen area, cafeteria and overhead lights.
• Folds and unfolds chairs and moves furniture.
• Dusts woodwork, furniture and other articles.
• Picks up paper and debris on grounds.
• Checks heating and air-conditioning equipment for proper operation.
• Raises and lowers flag.
• Makes minor repairs to buildings, building equipment and furniture.
• Delivers packages and messages.
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Maintains equipment and materials used in the workplace.
• Assists in loading and unloading trucks and carries packages.
• Performs simple painting and other trades tasks.
• Cleans and sweeps bleachers.
• Cuts grass and hedges and rakes clipping.
• Cleans chalkboards and chalk sills.
• Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance. Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
• Performs any additional duties assigned by superintendent and/or evaluator.
