Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools in Alabama is seeking a Custodian/Day Porter to join the facilities team. The role involves performing custodial tasks and working closely with the custodial supervisor to keep buildings clean, safe, and conducive to learning.

The position reports to the Building Principal and Custodial MT Supervisor, with oversight from the Director of Facilities and Maintenance. Candidates must pass a background check and drug screen; prior custodial experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a cleared background check.
• Must have a cleared drug screen.
• Prior experience in custodial services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust, vacuum, scrub, and/or mop floors.
• Clean restrooms and conduct mid-day checks with touch-ups as needed.
• Clean classrooms, hallways, restrooms, outdoor walkways and other areas.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• Stock restrooms with paper products.
• Operate equipment including vacuum, scrubbers, blowers, carpet cleaner.
• Assist with preparation and setup of events.
• Understanding the physical demands of duties.
• Any other duties assigned by superintendent and/or designee.
