Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in custodial work preferred.
• Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain building security and policing grounds.
• Cleaning, sweeping, and dry mopping floors.
• Cleaning and restocking of restrooms and restroom fixtures.
• Cleaning classrooms and offices, vacuuming carpeted areas, dusting furniture and office machines.
• Cleaning of windows and window sills and removal of debris from the building(s).
• Buffing/burnishing, stripping, and refinishing of hard surface floors.
• Shampooing, spotting, and extracting carpet.
• Light bulb replacement, HVAC filter service, and other project work.
• Small repairs including light fixtures/ballasts, switches, glazing, locks and plumbing.
• Provide emergency cleanup for spills.
• Report needs for other repairs and maintenance.
• Move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
• Maintain/ordering custodial equipment and supplies and scheduling projects.
• Assist in event or special program setups as time permits.
• Shift schedule as determined by the principal; perform other duties as assigned.
• Participate in training programs to increase skill and proficiency.
• Participate in cross-training activities as required.
• Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
