Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain attractive, sanitary facilities across multiple schools in Alabama. The role reports to the Principal and Custodian Foreman and operates on a 12-month schedule with classified pay.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning, securing buildings, managing supplies within budget, and upholding safety and health standards for students, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• Must provide own transportation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Alabama Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Follow job related instructions given by the Custodian Foreman and Principal.
• Provide a high standard of customer services as outlined the Operations Officer and the Director of Facilities.
• Maintain safe atmosphere for students and persons working in building as well as visitors.
• Order materials necessary for the upkeep of the building while staying within his/her assigned budget.
• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
• Daily, at the designated time, secure all doors and windows, and turn off lights except those left on for security reasons.
• Clean restrooms and drinking fountains daily according to health department regulations.
• Clean classrooms and corridors daily.
• Remove trash and rubbish from campus daily.
• Move furniture and equipment within the building as directed by the Head Custodian and Principal.
• Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations.
