Job summary

Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking a 12-month custodian to maintain facilities and grounds, perform cleaning tasks, and support general maintenance. The role requires adherence to safety rules, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the capability to work with diverse staff and students.

Responsibility includes coordinating with the Maintenance Department, replacing light fixtures, ordering supplies, and securing buildings daily.

Qualifications

• Ability to work an eight (8) hour day and overtime as requested.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently with or without supervision.
• Skills in the use of tools and equipment pertinent to the assigned tasks.
• Knowledge of equipment, materials, tools, and methods to perform work tasks as assigned.
• Knowledge of safety rules in the workplace.
• Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and perform effectively as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Regular and punctual attendance required.
• Maintain school facilities and grounds.
• Sweep, mop, empty trash, clean restrooms, strip, wax, and buff floors, and any other task related to cleanliness.
• Conduct maintenance, make repairs as needed to include changing light fixtures and light bulbs.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Department on those items requiring work that is more detailed.
• Order and maintain supplies.
• Assist with moving furniture and other items within the school facilities.
• Be available to respond as required to alarm activations.
• Lock and secure school buildings daily as assigned.
