Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and operating condition of district facilities. Responsibilities include daily cleaning of offices, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, waste management, and routine maintenance tasks.

Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, at least three years of verified work experience, the ability to lift 75 pounds, and the aptitude to perform assigned duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years verified work experience.
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
• Board may find alternatives to the above qualifications acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Offices and Conference Rooms: vacuum daily, empty trash daily, dust office furniture daily, empty ash receptacles daily.
• Computer Room: vacuum daily, empty trash daily, damp mop wax strips as needed.
• Lounge and Work Area: vacuum, empty trash, dust furniture, clean fridge and microwave, mop and wax floors, disinfect sinks, keep mail room clean.
• Student Restrooms: clean and disinfect sinks, commodes, floors, and trash; restock supplies; manage odor control; empty trash daily.
• All School Entrances: sweep porches, pick up trash, clean windows daily.
• Windows: clean inside and outside as needed.
• Water Fountains: scours and disinfects daily.
• Classrooms: empty trash, remove papers, clean chalk troughs, dust, vacuum, clean doors.
• Store custodial equipment properly and secure building; lock windows and doors.
• Utility Work: replace light bulbs and other maintenance items.
• High Cleaning: dust or vacuum high surfaces.
• Report hazards and needed repairs.
• Turn off lights and equipment when not in use.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
