Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is looking for a Custodian to help maintain clean, safe school facilities across the district. The role supports meetings, classrooms, and events, delivers supplies, and assists with safety and basic repairs under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

The position requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and the capability to stand for extended periods. Employment is 240 Days / 12 Months, with salary-based compensation.

Qualifications

• Lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Effective oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sanitary and safe facilities.
• Provides adequate arrangements for meetings, classrooms, and events.
• Minimizes property damage, loss and liability.
• Cleans schools facilities (classrooms, offices, multi-purpose rooms, grounds, windows, restrooms, sinks, carpet, floors, garbage cans, wastebaskets, gym, cafeteria, and other areas as designed by the Principal).
• Delivers items (supplies, mail, packages, furniture) to appropriate parties.
• Informs principal or supervisor regarding safety and/or maintenance issues.
• Secures facilities and grounds for safety (unlock/lock doors, secure gates, check windows, turn lights on/off, operate heating/facility equipment).
• Repairs furniture, equipment, and minor building damage for safe use.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
