Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Custodian (Itinerant) to perform custodial duties for multiple school facilities on a flexible basis, ensuring a clean, sanitary, and attractive educational environment. The role requires travel between sites, a valid Alabama driver’s license, and physical stamina to lift and move supplies as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; prior custodial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs full range of custodial duties for schools and facilities with ability to travel between sites.
• Cleans buildings, facilities, and grounds daily or as assigned, including dusting, trash, floors, windows, walls and restrooms.
• Prepares facilities for daily operations and checks doors, locks, and safety systems.
• Identifies hazards and reports repairs to supervisor to maintain safety.
• Operates security systems and responds to alarms and concerns.
• Observes and reports needed repairs for equipment and fixtures.
• Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on custodial equipment and furniture.
• Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies daily or as needed.
• Performs special projects such as floor refinishing and moving furniture.
• Recommends re-ordering of supplies and equipment as needed.
