Job summary

Wallingford-Swarthmore School District seeks an experienced Electrician - Maintenance Worker to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems across school facilities in Wallingford, PA. This role requires knowledge of safety codes and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.

You will work under the Office of Operations, coordinating with staff and administrators, with responsibilities spanning emergency response, documentation, and compliance. PA license and background checks required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a four-year electrical apprenticeship program is preferred.
• Valid journeyman or master electrician license is required or preferred by local jurisdiction.
• 2–5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional settings.
• Expertise in single- and three-phase power systems (up to 480V); low-voltage systems (fire alarms, security, intercom); building automation; load calculations.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, alter, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures including panels, service equipment, circuit breakers, lighting, motors, and fire alarm systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment; work with systems up to 480 volts.
• Inspect electrical systems and equipment for hazards; ensure NEC and local code compliance.
• Read blueprints and schematics to plan layouts and prepare material requirements.
• Maintain maintenance logs; manage work orders; estimate time and materials for jobs.
• Respond to emergency electrical calls and perform related maintenance tasks; may require non-standard hours.
• Perform physically demanding tasks; lift up to 75 pounds; work from ladders/scaffolding.
