Job summary

Vallejo City Unified School District is seeking a Payroll Technician to support the Fiscal Services department in preparing district payrolls and related financial activities. The role reports to the Payroll Supervisor and requires careful attention to detail and strong collaboration with HR and departments.

Responsibilities include maintaining payroll records, processing specialized payroll transactions, and producing payroll reports.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school supplemented by twelve (12) college units in a related field.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in performing accounting related functions preferable in a public school setting.
• Principles of accounting, bookkeeping and financial record keeping relating to payroll processing and reporting.
• Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques; proficient spreadsheet and word processing tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and process the District’s payroll records.
• Process and record specialized payroll transactions and related services; process paperwork on retired and terminated employees.
• Coordinate with District departments to obtain and provide information, resolve discrepancies and correct errors; work with HR for proper salary payments.
• Verify data submitted from within the District including personnel pay calculations and leave documentation.
• Update payroll data via computer terminal and generate payroll related reports.
