Job summary

Texas City Independent School District Nutrition in Texas City, TX, seeks a Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician to maintain, repair, and install kitchen and HVAC/refrigeration equipment across cafeterias. You will identify energy-saving measures and schedule preventive maintenance, ensuring sanitation and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, diagnosing problems, coordinating with the Child Nutrition Supervisor, and supporting on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience working on and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment.
• Experience in HVAC/Refrigeration field preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• EPA Universal Certification for refrigeration/food equipment
• Texas HVAC license or technician certification and a valid Texas driver's license

Responsibilities

• Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen repairs and maintenance.
• Follow the preventive maintenance schedule for all kitchen equipment.
• HVAC/Refrigeration repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
• Diagnose and resolve problems and communicate with Supervisor.
• Develop and follow a plan of action for repairs with required parts and timelines.
• Use hand tools.
• Maintain safety and compliance with local/state codes.
• Maintain up-to-date equipment warranties and records.
• Assist with transporting catering items and equipment between schools.
• Coordinate with other departments and outside contractors when needed.
• Open kitchen doors in emergencies and respond to on-call needs.
• Assist with maintenance on items going to auction and with asset tagging.
• Maintain district-owned tools and inventory.
• Report status of work orders to the Child Nutrition Supervisor.
