Job summary

ABM Industries seeks a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at K-12 and higher education campuses. The role includes cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms and common areas, handling trash and recycling, and using cleaning chemicals safely.

No degree is required, and on-the-job training is provided. Prior customer service experience is a plus, and the position emphasizes teamwork and reliable attendance in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience (preferred).
• One year of prior similar work experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, mop and remove debris; clean spills in designated areas.
• Empty trash and maintain recycling in designated areas.
• Use chemical cleaners and power equipment safely to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify supervisors about repairs or building-system needs.
• Maintain clear communication with clients, co-workers and supervisors.
• Dust and clean desks, tables, chairs, fixtures, doors and surfaces; wipe tabletops in food areas.
• Move furniture or equipment to access areas for cleaning; use hand trucks if needed.
• Clean interior glass, mirrors and windows; wash with appropriate cleaners.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance and quality standards.
