Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a part-time Crossing Guard to help ensure the safety of students during arrival and dismissal. You will supervise crossings, assist students, parents, and staff, and communicate school policies to the community.

Requirements include a high school education or equivalent and knowledge of traffic safety rules. You will wear an orange safety vest and carry crossing signs, with annual performance pay and education incentives based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe crossing of school children in designated crossing areas
• Assist students, parents, and staff, etc. to provide safe access to and from school
• Communicate to students, parents, staff and visitors to ensure their understanding of school policies and enforcement procedures
• Report observation and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns
• Wear orange safety vest and carry MPS issued, red hand-held sign to guide students, parents, staff, etc. through crossing area
• Place and remove school crossing and traffic control signs to notify motorists of school pedestrian crossing
• Regular on time attendance required
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
