Mesa Public Schools is seeking a Crossing Guard at Irving Elementary in Mesa, AZ. This part-time role (2-10 hours/week) ensures student safety at designated school crossings and involves communicating policies, assisting with safe access, and performing crossing control duties.

The position starts date is To Be Determined. Base hourly rate is $16.56, with possible annual performance pay and education incentives. Requires high school education and knowledge of traffic safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe crossing of school children in designated crossing areas.
• Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school.
• Communicate to students, parents, staff and visitors to ensure their understanding of school policies and enforcement procedures.
• Report observation and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel.
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns.
• Wear orange safety vest and carry MPS issued, red hand-held sign to guide students, parents, staff, etc.
• Place and remove school crossing and traffic control signs to notify motorists of school pedestrian crossing.
• Regular on time attendance required.
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.
