Job summary

Madison Simis Elementary School in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a part-time Crossing Guard to help students safely cross roadways on the way to and from school. This role requires attention to traffic signals and interaction with students, parents, and staff.

You will monitor crosswalks during the assigned hours, alert motorists of pedestrians, and assist teachers and administrators as needed. The position is 2 hours per day, 9 months per year, with pay at $16.13 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to walk and stand outdoors for 1–2 hours or more.
• Relates to students, parents, and staff in a positive manner.
• Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety practices.
• Ability to lift between 30–40 lbs.
• Ability to work with students one-on-one.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in crossing roadways at crosswalks or intersections.
• Monitor student activity and assist teachers and staff during listed hours.
• Alert motorists to the presence of students and stop traffic as needed.
• Direct students to comply with traffic signals and signs.
• Follow directions from supervisor and maintain safety practices.
