Job summary

The City of Provo is seeking part-time School Crossing Guards to help ensure the safety of students traveling to and from school. Shifts are 40-50 minutes and pay varies by tenure, with higher rates for longer service.

Primary duties include assisting children at designated crosswalks at their assigned posts and supporting the crossing guard supervisor. Applicants must be 18+, have their own transportation, and be prepared for adverse weather conditions.

• Must be able to respond to work site twice per day and work in adverse weather conditions and heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
• Requires visual and hearing abilities sufficient to safely perform the duties.
• Must have good rapport with children.

Provo City is looking for part-time crossing guards to assist the community with ensuring safe travel for students to and from school. Qualified, civic-minded individuals are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?

Pay: Payment will be by direct deposit.Payment is given based on shifts. Shifts are approximately 40-50 minutes in length. Pay level is distinguished based on years in the position with Provo City.

Hire - $15.00 per shift

1 year - $16.66 per shift

2 year - $18.33 per shift

3 year - $20.00 per shift

NOTE:

Individuals applying for this position must be at least 18 years of age and have their own transportation.

What are the hours and location?

Location and hours of position will be discussed at time of interview.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

Work requires exposure to all weather conditions, working in and around heavy traffic, and standing and walking for extended periods.

What is the selection process?

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
