Provo City Corporation seeks a part-time School Crossing Guard to help children safely cross at designated crosswalks in Provo. The role requires you to respond to the work site twice daily and work in various weather conditions, with shifts lasting approximately 40-50 minutes.

Pay is per shift and increases with tenure: $15.00 for new hires, up to $20.00 per shift after 3 years. Benefits include retirement savings options and library/rec center perks. Interview location to be discussed.

What is the compensation?

Pay: Payment will be by direct deposit. Payment is given based on shifts. Shifts are approximately 40-50 minutes in length. Pay level is distinguished based on years in the position with Provo City.

• Hire - $15.00 per shift
• 1 year - $16.66 per shift
• 2 year - $18.33 per shift
• 3 year - $20.00 per shift

What are the main duties?

Assist children to and from school at designated crosswalks at their assigned post. Assist the crossing guard supervisor as needed and perform other related duties as required.

What do I need to apply?

Must be able to respond to work site twice per day and work in adverse weather conditions and heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Requires visual and hearing abilities sufficient to safely perform the duties. Must have good rapport with children. NOTE: Individuals applying for this position must be at least 18 years of age and have their own transportation.

What are the hours and location?

Location and hours of position will be discussed at time of interview.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

Work requires exposure to all weather conditions, working in and around heavy traffic, and standing and walking for extended periods.

What is the selection process?

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
