Job summary

St. Laurence High School seeks a dependable Director of Maintenance to keep campus safe, functional, and well-maintained.

This mid-shift position reports to the Director of Facilities and ensures buildings, grounds, equipment, and workspaces are ready for students, staff, and visitors each day. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairs, overseeing custodial needs, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring safe handling of chemicals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of maintenance tools.
• General knowledge of building maintenance, safety practices, and repair procedures.
• Strong communication, organization and follow-through.
• Ability to prioritize requests and work independently while collaborating with staff and vendors.
• Good judgment and calm response to urgent facility needs.
• Physical agility, strength and stamina to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the school building, campus grounds, equipment, and related systems in safe, efficient order.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and basic improvements.
• Install, repair, and maintain equipment using safe procedures.
• Respond to maintenance requests from faculty and staff, communicate progress, and close work orders timely.
• Support operation of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical within role scope.
• Provide oversight of custodial and campus grounds needs.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized service or materials.
• Keep tools, supplies and work areas safe, clean and efficient.
• Follow safety procedures, including chemicals and hazardous materials disposal.
• Respond appropriately in emergencies, including shutting off utilities.
