Job summary

St Laurence High School is seeking a dependable, hands-on Director of Maintenance to keep the campus safe, functional, welcoming, and running efficiently. This mid-shift role supports building systems and works under the Director of Facilities to ensure spaces are ready for students, staff, and visitors.

The Director will maintain buildings, grounds, equipment, and related systems, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to maintenance requests.

Qualifications

Director of Maintenance

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Director of Maintenance to help keep our school campus safe, functional, welcoming, and running efficiently.This mid-shift role is ideal for someone who takes pride in solving problems, maintaining building systems, and supporting a busy school community. The Director of Maintenance works under the direction of the Director of Facilities and helps ensure that our buildings, grounds, equipment, and workspaces are ready for students, faculty, staff, and visitors each day.

What You'll Do

• Maintain the school building, campus grounds, equipment, and related systems in safe and efficient working order.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and basic improvements throughout the facility.
• Install, repair, and maintain equipment using safe and appropriate procedures.
• Respond to maintenance requests from faculty and staff, communicate progress, and complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Support the operation and upkeep of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, within the scope of the role.
• Provide oversight and coordination related to custodial needs and campus grounds.
• Work with outside vendors and suppliers when specialized service, equipment, or materials are needed.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas in a safe, secure, clean, and efficient manner.
• Follow proper safety procedures, including requirements related to chemicals and hazardous or toxic material disposal.
• Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including shutting off utilities when necessary.

What We're Looking For

• Working knowledge of the safe and efficient use of maintenance equipment and tools.
• General knowledge of building maintenance, safety practices, and repair procedures.
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to prioritize requests and work independently while collaborating with faculty, staff, vendors, and suppliers.
• Good judgment and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to urgent facility needs.
• Physical agility, strength, and stamina to perform the essential duties of the position.

Schedule

This is a mid-shift position.The regular schedule will be established based on school and facility needs and may require occasional flexibility for emergencies, special events, or other campus needs.
