Job summary

Hazleton Area School District - Hazleton Elementary/Middle School is seeking a General Cafeteria Worker to support the Food Service department. The role covers prep, service, and sanitation duties for a 4.5-hour shift, with duties including HACCP compliance and daily recordkeeping.

The position requires strong teamwork, attention to safety, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Immediate start with salary of $13.25 per hour and school-year scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Food Service Experience.
• Knowledge of HACCP, USDA and PDE Regulations and Guidelines.
• Skill in planning and organization.
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet navigation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, community, students and others in the delivery of effective services and the resolution of problems.
• Skill in organization, management, oral and written communications and human relations skills.
• Skill to handle conflict.
• Current Act 24 (82), Act 34, Act 114, Act 151 clearances, pre-employment drug test and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to dress code and keep neat and clean.
• Attends relevant meetings or training sessions.
• Reports hazards to the cafeteria manager.
• Participates in preparation and service of food following established production methods.
• Follows HACCP procedures and sanitation and safety methods.
• Keeps work areas and floors clean.
• Assists in food ordering and complete discard/waste sheets.
• Trains on the POS system.
