Job summary

Board of Education of Charles County is seeking a Food Service Assistant Manager for the school cafeteria operations under a 10-month term. This non-exempt role requires serving in a supervisory capacity, managing cash, inventory, and staff while ensuring food safety and compliance with USDA and district policies.

The candidate will supervise meal preparation, coordinate orders with vendors, and maintain accurate records and daily reports. ServeSafe certification within 12 months is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of three years' experience in food service required.
• Must be ServeSafe certified within 12 months of assuming position.
• Ability to manage cash, labor, food, supplies and food service equipment within a fixed budget, while maintaining sanitary and safe conditions in the kitchen and cafeteria.

Responsibilities

• Follows prescribed procedures to protect the anonymity of students who qualify for free and reduced priced meals.
• Verifies all invoices for bid prices, unit prices, extensions, and totals. Keeps perpetual inventory records of purchased foods.
• Places orders for purchased foods using economical buying practices. Requests USDA donated foods and utilizes the food in menus.
