Job summary

Boone County Schools in Florence, KY, seeks a Manager Cafeteria to plan, direct and supervise all cafeteria operations. This hourly position includes cooking, records, compliance with district guidelines, and staff supervision in a school setting.

The Manager will ensure nutritious meals, supervise equipment and safety, and work with the Director of Food Services to maintain quality service across daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and follow written directions.
• Two years of experience in food service operation.
• Basic mathematics skills required.
• Certification as a school food service employee preferred/required.
• Effective communication with the principal, staff and students.
• Experience in cooking, equipment use, record keeping and large-scale food prep.

Responsibilities

• Follow written guidelines, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor.
• Plan and direct the preparation and serving of all cafeteria food.
• Ensure security of food and supplies.
• Supervise storage and care of foods and supplies.
• Secure cafeteria revenue until turned over to proper authorities.
• Ensure menus developed by the Manager Food Services are followed.
• Supervise and participate in food preparation and serving.
• Oversee cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.
• Supervise and instruct staff in operation and care of equipment.
• Help cook selected recipes and calculate food quantities.
• Place weekly food and supply orders on purchase order forms; check bid sheets.
• Assign, direct, plan, and supervise cafeteria staff.
• Maintain employee time records.
• Plan work schedules; arrange substitutes as required.
• Instruct new cafeteria employees in tasks.
• Evaluate performance of cafeteria staff.
• Direct sanitation procedures.
• Maintain income, production and participation records for food and commodities.
• Inspect kitchen, utensils and employees for cleanliness and sanitation.
• Pre-cost menus and recipes.
• Keep records of commodity notifications.
• Keep daily cooler and freezer temperature records.
• Keep weekly stockroom temperature records.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
