Job summary

Owensboro Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Food Service Manager at Foust Elementary in Owensboro, KY. You will support daily cafeteria operations, assist with meals, inventory, and compliance with health and safety standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and ensuring a safe, nutritious dining experience for students and staff, with opportunities to obtain the district food safety certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or demonstrated progress toward GED per Kentucky law.
• Minimum of two years experience in food service operations (preferred).
• Demonstrate leadership and management skills for working with team members.
• Established skills in food preparation, following standardized recipes, and proper equipment use and care.
• Positive attitude toward students, staff, faculty and school.
• Option to obtain District-designated Food Safety Management Certification within 60 days of hire or prior to first student report date.

Responsibilities

• Assist School Cafeteria Manager in planning, organizing and leading food service operations at the assigned school site.
• Assist, prepare, and maintain daily/monthly records and reports accurately and timely.
• Oversee serving of meals and ensure compliance with serving size requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and facilities; ensure health and safety regulations are met.
• Receive, inspect and store deliveries; manage inventory as directed.
• Suggest cafeteria needs, conditions and menu changes to the manager.'
• Maintain confidentiality for students on free/reduced meals and allergies.
• Participate in in-service trainings and district meetings.
