Job summary

The Daviess County Public Schools’ Apollo High School in Owensboro, Kentucky seeks a Perm Sub Food Service Assistant I to support the school cafeteria operations. This full-time role (181 contracted days) involves POS transactions, meal counting, and ensuring HACCP-compliant food handling.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety and cleanliness, assisting with meal service, and performing related duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or satisfactory progress towards GED.
• Good health; capable of heavy lifting.
• Demonstrate or develop skills in the use and care of commercial food service equipment.
• Positive attitude toward students, staff, and school.
• Meet requirements of 702 KAR 6:045 for beginning food service employees.

Responsibilities

• Use a computer-based point-of-sale system to adjust balances and collect money.
• Monitor reimbursable meals and student meals.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and HIPAA-related data.
• Maintain HACCP compliance, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Operate and maintain the dishwasher; report malfunctions to the manager.
• Assist with portioning and serving foods following procedures and safety rules.
• Learn and apply district policies and procedures as needed.
• Meet schedules and participate in special meal events as required.
