Job summary

Daviess County School District seeks a Food Service Assistant I to support the district’s nutrition program at Daviess County Middle in Owensboro, KY. The role is full-time with varying hours by location and 181 contracted days per year.

Responsibilities include operating the POS to manage meals, ensuring reimbursable meal requirements, and maintaining hygiene and HACCP standards in the kitchen while serving students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or progress towards GED).
• Capable of heavy lifting and good general health.
• Familiarity with commercial food service equipment and basic math.
• Knowledge of HACCP and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate point-of-sale system to process meals and collect payments.
• Monitor student meals to ensure reimbursable meal requirements are met.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and HIPAA-related data.
• Keep kitchen and equipment clean and comply with HACCP standards for safety.
• Assist with food preparation and serving to students and staff.
• Attend trainings and follow district policies and procedures.
