Job summary

Heartspring in Wichita, KS is seeking a part-time Cafeteria Cook to prepare nutritious meals for students in a residential education setting. You will work in a heat-and-serve kitchen, follow KSDE meal program standards, and ensure food quality, safety, and timely service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 6 hours of CEU’s, Certification in food safety and sanitation is required by KSDE.
• 3+ years of experience in healthcare, residential, commercial food service or school food service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals following KSDE meal program standards, approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
• Prepare therapeutic and modified diets to meet specialized nutritional needs.
• Operate in a commercial heat-and-serve kitchen while maintaining food quality and consistency.
• Ensure meals are served accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain attractive food presentation and proper portion control.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and health department regulations.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and surfaces.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleanliness.
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering food and supplies.
• Work closely with the Nutrition Services Manager and other staff; provide excellent customer service.
