Job summary

Durham School Services seeks a Training Specialist to design and deliver initial and ongoing training for transportation personnel. You will supervise driver trainers, set performance standards, and recruit new candidates to become School Bus Drivers.

You will conduct classroom and on-road instruction, evaluate trainee progress, and manage safety meetings and testing programs in coordination with the corporate office.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 3 years as a Trainer in school bus transportation industry desired.
• Supervisory experience preferred; experience supervising/training driver workforce.
• Must complete state certification or Durham Training Academy for instructor.
• CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements required; SBDI certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, design, develop and implement training programs for transportation personnel.
• Supervise drivers trainers; set objectives, standards and schedules.
• Recruit and train individuals to become School Bus Drivers.
• Provide classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training; assess progress.
• Conduct driver safety meetings and ongoing evaluations.
• Administer drug/alcohol testing programs and pre-employment testing.
• Investigate incidents and respond to safety concerns with corrective actions.
• Maintain reporting to corporate office; support policy compliance.
