Job summary

Seaman Public Schools seeks a Mechanic to support the lead mechanic in maintaining district cars, buses and vans, ensuring top condition and safety for students and staff during transportation. This role requires collaboration with staff and administration and involves preventative maintenance and record-keeping.

Responsibilities include routine oil changes, tire checks, fuel management, and supervising student helpers during transit operations, under the supervision of the Transportation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Kansas commercial drivers’ license (CDL).
  • Knowledge in the automotive area to maintain and repair school district vehicles.
  • Must be able to perform Federal DOT Inspection.
  • ASE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead automotive mechanic in diagnosing and repairing school district vehicles.
  • Maintain a schedule and perform oil, lube and filter changes as required.
  • Wash the bus fleet regularly and coordinate seasonal helpers.
  • Prepare vehicles for activity trips and ensure fuel, tires, fluids are in good condition.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies for the transportation department.
  • Adhere to district health and safety policies and standards.
