Job summary

Metter is seeking a Bus Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of school buses. You will perform engine and electrical diagnostics, brake servicing, and safety inspections to ensure reliable student transportation.

The role involves working under moderate supervision, using standard automotive tools, preparing repair paperwork, and assisting drivers with morning route start-up. A related education background and experience are preferred.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Automotive Repair or related field is preferred.
High school diploma with certification program and 3-6 years of related experience required.
Georgia CDL with Passenger & School Bus Endorsements preferred; if none, must obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Performs repairs, maintenance, and modifications to school buses for safety and reliability.
Diagnose engine and electrical issues and conduct safety inspections.
Maintain tool chests and ensure proper use of hand and specialty tools.
Manage equipment, tools, and parts issued for work on motor vehicles.
Prepare paperwork for all repairs and document work orders.
Assist bus drivers with repairs during morning route start-up and safety checks.
Submit work orders to parts for inventory replenishment.
