Job summary

Colonial School District is seeking a School Bus Mechanic – Maintenance B for the Operations Center – Transportation. This essential position requires performing major and preventive maintenance on buses and district vehicles, responding to repair requests, and assisting other maintenance staff as needed.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of bus or medium/heavy truck experience, with diesel, air brakes, steering, and diagnostics familiarity.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on school buses and related equipment.
• Minimum of 2 years of school bus or medium/heavy truck experience including diesel, air brakes, steering and diagnostics.
• Apprenticeship or trade school preparation preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme temperatures.
• Must have or obtain a Class A CDL with air brakes qualification.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and preventive maintenance and troubleshoot district vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests and complete related paperwork.
• Assist Maintenance A personnel when requested.
• Operate heavy tow truck and other equipment as required, including driving school bus routes in emergencies.
• Work with minimal supervision and be available for emergency calls.
