Job summary

Colonial School District is seeking a School Bus Mechanic - Maintenance B to perform major and preventive maintenance on district vehicles, including buses, trucks and related equipment. The role requires at least 2 years in school bus or medium/heavy truck repair, diesel, air brakes, suspension and diagnostics, and possession of a Class A CDL with air brakes qualification.

Qualifications

• Maintains school buses, trucks, cars and related equipment.
• Minimum 2 years of bus or medium/heavy truck experience including diesel, air brakes, steering, suspension and diagnostics.
• Apprenticeship or trade school prep preferred.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme conditions.
• Must have or obtain Class A CDL and Delaware School Bus Driver license with air brakes.
• Ability to maintain detailed service records and read basic instructions.
• Background check clear and DOT/physical requirements met.
• Must supply personal tools and have basic PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform major maintenance and preventive maintenance on district vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests and complete related paperwork.
• Assist Maintenance A personnel when requested.
• Operate heavy tow truck and other equipment; may drive routes in emergencies.
• Work with minimal supervision and be ready for emergency calls.
