The role requires a valid Alabama CDL and school bus license, with responsibility for pre-trip inspections and disciplining students as necessary.

The position reports to the Transportation Director and offers pay consistent with the system’s compensation plan. Work year and hours align with the district schedule and vary by route.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Alabama CDL and school bus driver’s license.
• Must meet all local, state, and federal licensing requirements to operate a school bus and automobile.
• Must pass drug tests as required by law and Board policies.
• Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record and pass background checks per Alabama statutes.
• Physical ability to operate a school vehicle and perform required inspections.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Performs pre-trip inspections per state guidelines.
• Transports students to and from school and on field trips.
• Maintains student discipline and reports incidents to the transportation office.
• Keeps accurate route and inspection reports and maintains clean buses.
