Job summary

Blount County Board of Education is seeking a Bus Driver to safely transport students on scheduled routes. The role requires a valid Alabama CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, a current DOT physical, and a clean driving record.

You will perform daily inspections, manage student behavior, and report issues to supervisors. Responsibilities include following schedules, maintaining equipment, and conducting safety drills.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Alabama bus driver certificate and CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement.
• Must maintain a current Department of Transportation (DOT) physical as required by BCBOE policy.
• Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record, including no DUI convictions.
• Provide successful drug screening results and pass random drug/alcohol screenings or the BCBOE exam biennially.
• Must complete Blount County School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test.

Responsibilities

• Observe traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses per Federal, State, and local rules.
• Maintain rules for transportation and follow assigned time schedules and routes.
• Transit authorized passengers only and unload students at approved stops.
• Maintain communications equipment and report discipline problems to supervisors.
• Cooperate with principals, transportation supervisors, and parents to resolve discipline issues.
• Conduct bus evacuation drills and ensure the bus is fueled and clean daily.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections for mechanical issues and unattended items.
• Report accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries promptly to officials.
